Mira is today on day 42-44 of her pregnancy. She is still doing well and don't mind going on walks in the woods or along our small roads here. She wants to eat ALL THE TIME... she now eats special food adapted for bitches carrying puppies and at the moment she get's that three times a day, and inbetween some leftovers, bones and others. Soon I will have to make her portions smaller but feed her often because it will be so crowded in her belly so she won't be able to eat big portions of food.
Last week I weighed her at work and she had gained about 5 kg. Still 2-3 weeks left so she will grow and gain even more. Below you can see the change that has been in just one week.

We have now made it over halfway of the pregnancy and Mira is doing very well. She get's food three times a day now and that will increase as we go furhter. The bigger the puppies get less room is there for her stomache and other organs, so they usually prefer smaller portions of food but several times a day.
This past week Mira's belly has grown a lot, this pretty much just shows that the puppies are in a big growing phase right now, developing very fast inside her belly.
You can only imagine what will happen during the last 3-4 weeks!

Today at work we had our ultrasound specialist Lennart Nilsfors here, and I could not resist to ask for his help to do an ultrasound on Mira. We checked some heartbeats and brains aswell as did an attempt to count. You can never count for sure with ultrasound but we think we saw at least 10 puppies! I think MIra does look bigger than last time, but always difficult so say when a bitch has had puppies before, if she is bigger because of littersize or because of previous pregnancy.
Anyway it was happy news for me and hopefully I can give happy news to many of the people on my puppywaiting list when the puppies are here in about 4-5 weeks!

Mira is today on 28-30 of her pregnancy. Day 28 is counting from our last mating. She is starting to get a showing belly, hard to get it to show on this photo but it is more obvious in real life. Her tits are getting bigger and all she wants to do all day long is eat! 
She is doing very well so far, still runs and plays and eat her food without hesitating. I will try to take new photos each week from now on so you can follow us and see how she continues to get bigger.

Today Mira is on day 17-19 of her pregnancy, depending on if we count from first or last mating.  I was planning to do an ultrasound in 5 days, but then this morning at work we started the ultrasound for another patient and I couldn't resist trying a very early ultrasound on Mira. 
We never book patients this early but I wanted to try, having done a lot ultrasounds now it is fun with a challenge.
And I was more than happy with the result! I very quickly discovered 3 tiny puppies near eachother. I did not bother trying to look for more, just knowing there is something in there is good enough! (One can be seen in the photo above, as a thick ring that is black inside on the right side of the photo.)
Later on I will make another ultrasound to check for heartbeats.

I am not sitting on the ferry travelling back home again from our three days in Riga. On Friday we arrived in Tallinn and drove to Riga. Late in the evening we met up with Boy and his handler who had been travelling for a very long time to get there from Moscow, Russia.
The dogs got to meet eachother and soon started to play and flirt. We got a short mating that evening bot no hanging (not stuck together). 
We decided to call it a night and the next day I picked Boy up and took him with me to the woods and back to our hotel. Even Moa (Mira's mother) liked him and was happy with his company on our walk. During Satruday we did get a few more matings but not until the evening we got short hanging for a few minutes.
We met again earlier today before I had to start to drive to the ferry and another successful date. This time with a good hanging for about 12 minutes.
So Mira was mated on day 16, 17 and 18 in her heat, even though the best mating was the last dag
Now all we can do is wait... in about three weeks I will make an ultrasound and then we will know if these dates has been successful and if we can expect puppies in January!

Tomorrow it is time for us to start our journey to meet Boy! Mira and I will take the ferry tomorrow after work and head towards Tallinn, from where we will then drive to Riga.
I am very excited for the trip and I hope it will be a successful one!
This past weekend I showed Mira at the Danish Winner and Nordic Winner Show. On the first day she won 2nd Best Bitch with CAC anc CACIB making her New Danish Show Champion! 
And she was only once placement away from winning the Danish Winner title aswell.
Day 2 she won 2nd Best Championbitch.

The day I have been waiting for has come! About one and a half week ago I saw that Mira was starting to get swollen, so I knew her heat would not be far away. I wasn't expecting her to come into heat until November so this came as a little bit of surprise... and a little bit to soon. 
Next weekend we are going to Denmark and we will be travelling with males... so I have been stressed out for the past week that we would not be able to go.
But sweet Mira has waited and waited to start her heat, until today. But the timing is perfect!
Mira and I will take the ferry to Tallinn, Estonia next Thursday and then from there drive to Riga where we will stay until Sunday to meet Boy.
With the best of luck Mira is ready for mating on the same days as last time giving us three opportunities for mating, Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday morning.
I will most likely take a bloodtest on Mira and have it analyzed on Thursday before we go, even though the result will most likely not change anything!  So now this long and exciting journey can finally begin!
