This weekend we got to borrow Penny to meet with potential puppybuyers. It is nice for her to spend some time here getting comfortable with our whole pack and us before she will move in to have her puppies.
Penny was inseminated 8 days ago, still way to early to see any signs on her but crossing our fingers it was successful.
The weather got very nice in the afternoon so I took some new photos of her. She is such an easy dog to stack, so balanced. And a head with so much expression.

So this morning Penny was on day 14 of her heat and I picked her up from her owners. I took her third bloodtest and drove to Uppsala and UDS. We met our vet Eva Axnér and got the test started while she did her examination of Penny. Since Penny has not had puppies before she needs to be cleared for insemination, to know she could have gone through a natural mating. And everything was fine and we got to go for a long walk in the sun waiting for the testresults to come back.
Her progesterone was today at their machine 39,1 nmol/L. Above 35 is good to go for AI. So we got to come back before lunch and she performed the AI.
Penny did so well, of course thinking everything was a bit strange but standing still kindly on the table throughout it all.
It was great to see that last doze of frozen semen from Wilson waking up getting all active on the screen above the microscope. Even though Wilson is no longer with us it was great seeing that something of him still was.
We now cross our fingers that we will have puppies in the middle of May. I will make an ultrasound in 3-4 weeks to hopefully confirm a pregnancy.

Thursday morning and our second bloodtest to check how much Pennys progesterone has rised. Her levels were already up to 33,4 nmol/L. This means she really followed the unofficial rule that the level double each day. Monday she had 4,2 nmol/L which means she should be around 8,4 on Tuesday, 16,8 on Wednesday and 33,6 on Thursday. So the result today was almost spot on.
Todays result means that we are going to UDS tomorrow morning to do a third progesteronetest to run in their machine, a check by the vet and if everything checks out she will be inseminated.

Monday morning Penny was on day 10 of her heat and we took the first progesteronetest. It showed 4,2 nmol/L which was pretty much what I expected. It shows that her levels is starting to rise but she has not been ovulating yet. The insemination will be done after she has ovulated and that is what we are trying to catch with these tests.
The second test will be taken early Thursday morning and depending on what is shows we will make more plans for the weekend or next week.
