2021
Today it was time for the first day in puppyschool. Happy to have our fabolous four back together again. Today they learned about the basics in clickertraining and they got to practise their names, recall word, eye contact and sit. All puppies and owners did very well.
Of course the siblings got some time to play aswell, and at least our girl Hailey have slept since the others left.
See you next time!
The M-litter has now moved to their new families. We are missing them but getting reports that they are all doing well. We wish them all the best for the future!
Mr Blue is now called Frank, Ms Red is called Meja, Ms Orange is called Nike and Ms Pink who is staying with us has not gotten a name yet.
Yesterday the puppies turned 8 weeks old and it was time for their last photshoot before they start to move to their new families. They have been such a delight to have, of course being only 4 puppies the work has been a lot easier than when we have had 14 puppies.
They are all so social, loves to sleep near and just hand around where we are. But they are also very indepent and easily plays on their own somewhere in the garden or goes off to rest in the shade when they are tired.
I will miss them so much but know they have great families waiting to give them lots of love!
They also had their last weigh in yesterday:
Mr Blue - 7780 g
Ms Red - 7960 g
Ms Pink - 7110 g
Ms Orange - 7610 g
The puppies are now 7 weeks old and continues to develop very nicely. On Tuesday it is time for their check up at the vets aswell as vaccination and ID chip. Next weekend they will move to their new families who I know are waiting patiently for them!
Some mixed photos of our fabolous four 6,5 weeks old. All of a sudden time is flying by and I can't believe they are already 8 weeks next week. They have wonderful families waiting for them but oh I will miss them so much!
Yesterday the puppies turned 6 weeks old and we had another photoshoot. They are growing so much, legs are getting higher by the minute!
The puppies have now gotten their names aswel, of course in the Michael Jackson theme.
This weeks weights:
Ms Red - 5725 g
Ms Pink - 5340 g
Ms Orange - 5355 g
Mr Blue - 5380 g
Our gorgeous puppies turned 5 weeks old on Thursday and we had a small photoshoot. Due to lack of time we only did stacked photos this week and weighed them.
I am so pleased with them all, such beautiful sweethearts!
This weeks weights:
Mr Blue - 3860 gram
Ms Red - 4415 gram
Ms Pink - 4045 gram
Ms Orange - 4015 gram
Some mixed photos from the past week of the puppies enjoying their new tunnel that me and the kids went and bought for them.
Today we had the four week photoshoot outside in the nice weather. Much nicer and better light than inside. The puppies are developing very nicely and I am so pleased with them all.
Mr Blue is healing very well by the looks of it. He is using his leg much more and most of the time you can't see any limping. Tomorrow we are removing his stiches and next Thursday we have an appointment with the ortopedist for new X-rays and check up.
This weeks weights:
- Ms Pink - 3095 gram
- Ms Red - 3270 gram
- Ms Orange - 3120 gram
- Mr Blue - 3015 gram
Tomorrow the puppies are 4 weeks old and today I took them outside for the first time. We spend some time exploring the grass and surroundings together with mum Segra.
It was so nice to see Segra's reaction to the puppies being outside with her. She loved it! She played with them, fed them outside and just enjoyed it.
If the weather stays good we will not take them out every day for shorter periods and eventually for longer times as they get bigger.
Tomorrow it is time for new individual photos and weigh in.
The puppies turned 3 weeks old yesterday and I took new photos of them all. They were also weighed and all gaining weight nicely.
Ms Red - 2355 grams
Ms Orange - 2140 grams
Ms Pink - 2265 grams
Mr Blue - 2155 grams
Yesterday morning when we woke up I noticed that Mr Blue was holding his right hindleg lifted, avoiding to put it down. I suspected that Segra had stepped on him during the night. I was not able to get an appointment with any of the veterinary clinics in Enköping or Västerås yesterday so today I took him to the emergancyroom at Strömsholm to have him examined and X-rayed.
He unfortunately had a fractur so tomorrow he is scheudeled for surgery.
The plan is to put in a plate and hopefully it won't affect the bones growthzones so he will heal well and not be affected by this in the future.
Our sweet little boy, so brave all the hours he had to be away from his mum and sisters. Updates on how he does tomorrow will come!
The puppies are now 2 weeks old and today I took new individual photos of them. I just love them all, I think they are gorgeous!
New weighin aswell, all gaining weight very well without being to fat, at least not yet.
Mr Blue - 1535 gram
Ms Orange - 1465 gram
Ms Pink - 1510 gram
Ms Red - 1590 gram
The puppies are today 13 weeks old and it was time to take out the camera for some new photos. They are developing fast now, with eyes open and bodies getting stronger. They are now up on all four legs walking, even though not so steady yet.
Still sleeping and eating most of the time so I have to be fast with the camera the few minutes at a time that they stay awake.
Tomorrow time for new photoshoot but before then enjoy todays photos below.
The puppies are 10 days old and doing very well. It is very warm at the moments so trying to keep the temperature in the puppyroom at a good level. They need warmth but not to hot! Segra is doing well too, more relaxed now which means she leaves the puppies when they are sleeping to come outside and just hang out and walk around. She also comes along on our walks and doesn't have to run back to the puppies in a stress.
On Thursday we have a new weigh in and new inidividual photoshoot!
The puppies are 8 days old today and they have started to open their eyes!
The puppies are today 1 week old and new photos has been taken. This week headshots and sleepingshots, where you can see the white marks (on the two who has a little bit on the chest).
They are gaining weight, and I am sure they will soon be very fat! Lots of milk for only four puppies!
Ms Pink - birthweight 482 g - 1 week 968 g
Ms Red - birthweight 569 g - 1 week 980 g
Ms Orange - birthweight 540 g - 1 week 928 g
Mr Blue - birthweight 572 g - 988 g
Some new photos of the puppies from yesterday 4 days old. They are all doing well and Segra is taking excellent care of them.
The puppies are now 3 days old and all doing great. They have gained weight and I think they will soon be fat puppies with so little competition for the food. Segra is doing very well too. The first day was still tough for her, but now she is back to normal, happy, tail wagging with good appetite. She takes excellent care of her puppies staying with them the whole time except for the short walks I convince her to go on.
Here are the first individual photos of our fabolous four! They are absolutely gorgeous!
During Wednesday I saw some changes in Segra's behaviour during the day. Her apetite was not as good as normal which tells a lot from this lady. But the day went on without any other big signs of the delivery starting to I headed for bed a little bit before 12 pm. Just as I was laying down Segra sat up in her bed and had two contractions. She stood up had one more and "her water broke". So, that was that for sleeping!
I took her downstairs to our puppyroom (livingroom) and got her settled there. She was pretty relaxed and had some contractions along the way, and at 01.22 am on the 27th of May her first puppy was born. A handsome strong male with a perfect ridge weighing 572 grams.
Unfortunately later during the day when I checked for DS (dermoid sinus) I found one in his neck. He will have surgery for this when he gets big enough and we hope it will be successful so he can live a long, happy life.
After our boy Mr Jackson (also seen on photos as Mr Blue) was born nothing more happend. Segra had good contractions with a few minutes a part, but after a few hours I was starting to get concern. It is normal that it takes time to move every puppy forward in the birthkanal but it should not take this long.
So in the morning I packed Segra and Mr Jackson in the car and headed to Rediondjursjukhuset Strömsholm about 45 minutes away. We got nice help straight away so we did X-rays to see if any puppies were in a bad position or looking like it was stuck. Nothing obvious there so we went ahead with an ultrasound and they could find 3 heartbeats, not the 4th that was the furthest in. We took bloodtests on Segra which were all good so no explanation there to why the puppy was not progressing.
She was started on calcium iv.fluids and that did not do much. So she got medicine to help her contractions and that gave her more contractions but the puppy still would not move along. It was to far in to be able to be reached by the veterinarians to.
At this point we decided to go ahead with a C-section. I did not want to risk loosing the puppies or put Segra through more, she was getting tired by now.
So they took her away and me and Sara (Segra's owner) stayed with Mr Jackson. After maybe and hour or two they came to us with the puppies, but unfortunately only three. The fourth puppy, a stunning correct male, had not made it. We will never know why, he was the furthest in so not the one trying to get out. Perhaps his placenta had loosend, we don't know.
So what we got was three beautiful girls to care for, all looks to have correct ridges and no DS has been found on them or the stillborn boy.
We had to wait another 2-3 hours at least before they brought Segra out to us. She was tired and still is, but cares so well for her babies. She has not been able to keep food or water down during the evening yesterday and this morning so we are not giving her just tiny portions at a time hoping that it will be better.
We spend over 10 hours at the animal hospital yesterday and she was awake more or less the whole night before, so I am happy that she has been able to rest more during this night.
For all of you who are hoping for a puppy from this litter I will contact you within the next few days, so hold tight!
More individual photos will come later during the day. But here are the first few photos of our faboulous four!
Today we took some new photos of Segra, who is now on day 56. Just one more week to go! Segra is doing well, resting a lot and mostly walking slowly on our walks, and wants to eat all the time! The puppies are active in her belly and I love to sit next to her with my hand on her stomache and feel them move around.
Keep your fingers crossed for an easy delivery next week! Updates will come!
Today on day 51 I did an X-ray on Segra which showed that she is carrying 5 puppies. We are very happy about these 5, even though of course it would have been great with the double. This means that unfortunately not all of you waiting for a puppy will get one from this litter. I will contact you all soon and give you more information!
Segra has now moved in with us and we took some new photos of her in the evening, on day 50.
Today I went to visit Segra and see how her belly is growing. Such a pretty and happy girl even now when she has started to get heavier. In about one week she will move in with us to have two weeks to prepare before the delivery. Below are some new photos of her from today. Enjoy!
Segra has now spend a week with us and has now gone back to her family. She will move in about two weeks before her puppies is expected to be born, which is at the end of May.
Yesterday I took some new photos of her during one of our walks in the wood.
Today on day 23 since the insemination we did an ultrasound on Segra, and I am happy to say that Segra and Spencer is expecting puppies. The veterinarian saw at least 5 puppies, and we hope for a few more hiding in there.
I will most likely do an X-ray of her belly closer to the delivery to see how many puppies we have in her belly. I always think it is nice to know before the birth, so I know when to relax and be sure they have all be born.
Today Segra (SEVCH Kadamo Give Me a High Five) came to us and will stay here for a week. She is today on day 22 of her pregnancy, not much to see yet. Tomorrow the plan is to do an ultrasound to check if she has little puppies growing in her belly. We sure hope so!
Updates will come tomorrow late evening!
Today on day 15 I took Segra to UDS and veterinarian Eva Axnér who performed the AI. Spencers fresh chilled semen arrived yesterday from Germany and today was the day. Evrything looked good so now all we can do is wait and keep our fingers crossed that it was successful and that we will have puppies in about 9 weeks.
I will do an ultrasound in about 3-4 weeks and then we will know more!
This morning Spencer went to the vet to get his semen collected to be shipped to Sweden. All went well so his little swimmers should arrive in Sweden tomorrow.
We took a second progesteronetest today which showed 16 nmol/L. So she is raising a little bir slower than last time, but still ovulation today. So we will go on Saturday for the AI at SLU in Uppsala. Keep your fingers crossed that the semen arrives in good condition and that everything goes well on Saturday!
Segra has now been in heat a little over a week. Do to the fact that her first planned husband to be Izor had some minor problems with his prostate last week I have decided to change male for Segra's upcoming litter.
We wish Izor the best of health but at the same time I am very happy to announce our new plans. I am very excited to get the opportunity to use very handsome Akono Nayoma Lajaani Spencer "Spencer" from Germany. Spencer has two gorgeous parents and a lovely pedigree. His exteriour is very appealing with his strong topline, balanced angulations in front and rear, deep and nicely shaped chest and ribcage, aswell as a stunning masculine head.
Thank you Carmen for giving me this opportunity to raise some Spencerpuppies here in Sweden. I hope they will make you both proud!
On Wednesday Segra is on day 12 of her heat and we will take the first progesteronetest, and after that start planning for Spencer's swimmers to travel to Sweden!
Segra will then be inseminated since we are not able to travel for a natural mating due to Covid.
Today Segra started her heat! I am very excited for this spring. In a little bit less than two weeks I will take a progesteronetest and hopefully after that we will go on a date with Izor. More info will come!
