Insemination done!
So this morning Penny was on day 14 of her heat and I picked her up from her owners. I took her third bloodtest and drove to Uppsala and UDS. We met our vet Eva Axnér and got the test started while she did her examination of Penny. Since Penny has not had puppies before she needs to be cleared for insemination, to know she could have gone through a natural mating. And everything was fine and we got to go for a long walk in the sun waiting for the testresults to come back.
Her progesterone was today at their machine 39,1 nmol/L. Above 35 is good to go for AI. So we got to come back before lunch and she performed the AI.
Penny did so well, of course thinking everything was a bit strange but standing still kindly on the table throughout it all.
It was great to see that last doze of frozen semen from Wilson waking up getting all active on the screen above the microscope. Even though Wilson is no longer with us it was great seeing that something of him still was.
We now cross our fingers that we will have puppies in the middle of May. I will make an ultrasound in 3-4 weeks to hopefully confirm a pregnancy.
