Hiking trip to Jämtland!

In the beginning of August me and Erik went to Jämtland with all four dogs, Dando, Moa, Yaya and Kiwi.
On the way up we stopped after about 6 hours in Svenstavik for the international dogshow were I showed Moa. First show for her in over a year. She did well and finished as 3rd Best Bitch. (A few pictures from this day can be seen in a previous entry here.)
After the show we continued about one hour to Åre were we stopped to buy some food before we drove the last 30 minutes to Enaforsholm, were we would be spending the next couple of days.
The weather was pretty nice and we enjoyed the evening at our cottage that was located just next to Enafors.

Our first day greeted us with grey and rainy weather. But we still headed out for our first day of hiking. We drove to Storulvån Fjällstation were we started walking along the side of Getryggen. We walked all the way to Ulvåtjärn before we had to cross the water and walk back along the other side back to Storulvån. This hike was about 13km and took us  4 hours.

Our second day the weather was a bit better so we decided for the longest hike today, a total of 20 km. We drove to Rundhögen and walked up to Blåhammaren Fjällstation, up to the top and back down again. At the top we acctually got some sunshine and a good view too, so worth the long walk! Total today we spend almosdt 6 hours on the move, with some stops to take pictures and fill up with energy.
Both two and fourlegged was tired this evening I can tell you! Everyone relaxing on the couch after dinner!

Third day we drove towards Storulvån but stopped on the way. We walked along Norder-Tvärån higher and higher up. Finally I got to see many many raindeers! Yesterday we only saw one from a far. But today there were herds of them here and there in the snowy parts of the mountains. We even got very close to one who all of a sudden came trotting passed us, stopped, looked at us and then took off. Such cute animals! A slow day with no hurry at all, taking time to take pictures before walking back down again. A total of a bit more than 8 km and about 3 hours hiking.

This was our last day, the day after we had a 7 ½ hour drive back home to Stockholm again! Great little weekend away with lots of fresh mountain air for both us and the dogs!

I can truly recommend everyone to head up north for a few days of hiking, with or without a dog as company!
