Hiking in Åre

On Wednesday afternoon me and the dogs drove for 7½ hours from Stockholm to Åre in the northern parts of Sweden. There we met with Camilla and Ove Larsson, who owns Moa's daughter Enya from the B-litter, aswell as their RR-male Zeus.
They were borrowing a wonderful house from a friend and had asked me to join them for a few days. An offer I couldn't resist!
When I arrived after the long though drive I got to choose a bedroom. They have 14 beds and of course I chose one of the mastersuits, a big big comfy bed! We also had a quick relaxingtime in the jacuzzi before it was time for bed!
On Thursday it was time for our first day hiking up the mountains. We picked a trail that ended up beeing 14 km long. First going up Lillskutan and from their all the way up to Åreskutan. A climb of 1020 m! I promise I could feel my thighs burning every step!
Once up there it was time to head back down again. I thought going up was tough, but down was probably worse.
After almost 6 hours we were back down at the house, very saticfied and tired! Dinner, jacuzzi, TV and bed!

On Friday it was time for our second day hiking. Ove got to decide the first part of the hike and me the last. We took the cablecar to Kabinberget and walked up to Åreskutan. From there we walked down on the other side of the mountain towards Bjelkes gruva. Down there I picked to take the longer trail back, instead of walking shorter but steper uphill again. So we continued our hike towards Stendalen, passed Bräckebäckstjärnarna and finally arrived at Mörvikshummeln and Fjällgården. From there it felt like we were almost home! But of course not yet. Todays hike took us 7 hours and was 20,5 km long! The dogs were so great and brave. They walked and walked and walked. At the end it did show that they were just as tired as us so we took lots of short stops on the way down the steap hill.
The evening was spend resting, eating a lot to get the energy back, a dip in the warm jacuzzi and then bedtime!

Today it is Saturday and the dogs need to rest, and so do I! So we are just relaxing before it is time to head back home again!

I am so proud of my dogs, they haven't complained a bit. Moa and Yaya got to share carrying the dogbackpack and Dando got to try it a littlebit the second day. They didn't seem bothered by it all, it wasn't heavy but still.
We now have a month at home to rest and walk some more before it is time for us to head back north for more hiking again! Something I can recommend everyone to do!
