Today Kayla is on day 24 and we went to do an ultrasound. She has been more tired than usuall but that was not enough to make me confident that she is pregnant.
But I had no reason to worry! We saw several tiny puppies and heartbeats in her belly! So if all continues to go as planned my G-litter will be born around January 20th 2015.

The weather has been so grey and wet lately and it is getting colder, so I have booked a few appointments at the dogpool for some indoor swimming with the girls.
We were there last week and again today. We have a few more appointments before new year so the girls can start the New Year in good shape!
I have been swimming with my girls in dogpools for years. They are all used to it and get very fired up when we arrive at the pool.
The first video below is of Yaya swimming, she was first out today. Moa and Mira doesn't rest while waiting for their turn... they keep on running around keeping an eye on Yaya in the pool.
Below that video is a video of each one of the girls swimming on their own. They are all doing well even though they are different and need different kind of encouragement.
Yaya is the most comfortable one and she swims quiet lazy if she doesn't have a toy to chase. Mira and Moa don't care for toys, but swim harder when being encouraged by me.

It has now been two weeks since Kayla and I met handsome and sweet SEUCH DKUCH SEVCH Mankoya's Incredible Idde by Gambo "Idde". We don't know yet if their date was successful and if we will have puppies, but we hope so!
For more information about or planned G-litter follow the link!
Kayla has been back home with her family for one week and I just got reports that she seems to be more tired, more hungry and has vomited a couple of times. Let's hope these are for her all signs of that she is expecting puppies!
We all enjoyed having Kayla at home with us for two weeks. She gets along with all my dogs and is just like one in the pack. So we hope to have her back with us in January and of course to meet her and Idde's puppies! Keep your fingers crossed!

This past weekend Kayla starting to act flirty to the dogs that we had as company on our walks. At home she was not showing any signs of being in her "peak" days of her heat. On Sunday I did notice that the blood was looking like it should around mating which got me a bit stressed out, she was only on day 10 of her heat. I have mated my previous bitches around day 15-16 if I remember correctly.
So Monday morning I took a bloodtest and drove to the Animal hospital to get it analyzed. I went straight to my own workout where I later got a message from the veterinary that her progesteronelevel was 36 nmol/l (!!!!) This means that she had been ovulating probably Saturday or Sunday and was most definetely ready for mating.
So I rushed home and packed the car, left Moa and Yaya with my friend Elin (THANK YOU) and set off towards Gothenburg with myself, my daughter Ellen, Kayla and Mira (who also is in heat at the moment...).
We arrived in the evening arpund 6.30 pm and thanks to my friend Ann-Sophie we got to borrow an indoor traininghall where we could let Kayla and Idde get to know eachother.
First, the got to meet eachother outside and they seem to hit it off right away so we took them indoors and let them loose to play.
And they did so well together, They played, flirted, kissed and behaved like proffessionals even though this was their very first mating.
But... we did not get a mating... They were extremely close several times, but their aiming wasn't perfect and after about three hours (of course with breaks for them) we gave up for the evening.
Idde's owner were so kind to offer me to stay with them so the Kayla and Idde got to see eachother first thing in the morning. They had another good attempt but after that they didn't seem to be as interested anymore. Tired or perhaps Kayla's heat had progressed so much so it was now too late?
Since I really did not want to miss out on this litteroppertunity now I decided to try to find a veterinary who could help us to do and AI. Luckily I found one, Johanna Mattsson at Göteborgs Djurklinik.
So we went there, emptied Idde and checked his semen which was of good quality, then checked Kayla who was in a good place in her heat for AI, and it was done.
Unlike what I am used to this was only done vaginal, and not put into the uterus. I hope and pray that this will work. The two of them are such a great couple and I have so much hope in this litter.
So keep your fingers crossed that we within about 3-4 weeks will get some positive news during an ultrasound!
Until then, we can only wait!
Below are a little album of photos of Kayla and Idde from the attempts of mating. They really clicked and liked each other!
Thank you again Malin and Daniel for EVERYTHING! Idde is such a wonderful and sweet boy and I am happy that I got to spend some time with him.

One week has already passed since Dando left this earth with his head resting in my lap. The first days I was in some kind of haze. I cried, a lot... I have since those first days started some kind of defence inside myself to manage my everyday life.
Until today I have hardly looked at any photos of him, I have tried to keep myself busy with just about anything, tried to avoid thinking of him...
But it doesn't work all the time. Sometimes I think he will lay there in his bed, or I think I hear him walking trough the hallway, or that it is him that I hear breathing heavy at night... But it's not.. He is not here, and that hurts.
I still know I did the right thing and that he wasn't living the life he once used to. But that still doesn't stop the feeling that I want him back!
I want to be able to stroke his soft fur again, kiss his cheek again, look into his dark wise eyes again, but I never will. That is what makes my heart break, all those things I will never do again.
But in my heart, he will live on forever. His personality was so strong and I know his memory will be aswell.

Below are some of the last photos I had of him in my camera, and I wanted to share some of them with you. They show some of his lovely qualties. First the safety and security for my girls as their lovely companion. Then there is that begging for treats boy, putting his paw on my foot to get my attention, drooling over those treats and those sweet eyes of his looking straight into my heart.
The final photos is of him seeing Wilson for the last time, both boys being so happy greeting eachother. The very last photo was taken the same morning as he passed away. After breakfast he got to enjoy a tasty turkeyneck which he ate with huge appetite!

I love you my boy, now and forever! Always in my heart!

A piece of me is gone... My dear, my love, my one and only, my best friend, my first dog, my everything has left me today...
After years of fighting a disease after another I had to make the hard decision to know when enough was enough, and we had reached that point.
He has been struggling lately with loss of function in his backlegs and the last couple of weeks he could not control when he needed to poo, so it often came indoors.
He couldn't go for any real walks, just short short walks behind our house and from time to time in the woods, when I took him with me in the car so he would get a change of scenery.
It was very hard for me to decide when it was his time. He has been such a huge part of my life for almost 11 ½ years and for me to decide when he should not live anymore has been devastating.
I  have prepared for this day this whole year, and he has slowly been getting worse, and in some way, I feel peace now. I have morn him for so many months, when he was still alive. But now, I can feel sad, cry and grief for "real".

I was only 19 years old when Dando stepped into my life and for the 11 years, 5 months and 2 days I got to have him next to me he has been my world.
There is no other dog that will ever mean as much to me as he has. He was my first dog and that will always garantee a special place in my heart.
My heart is broken but I know all my lovely memories of you will eventually push away my tears and instead make me smile every time I think of him.

Dando got to lay in his own bed with his head in my lap when he fell into his final sleep. He gave me a final big kiss before he put his head in my arms and fell deeper and deeper to sleep.
The girls were allowed in the room when we were finished to say goodbye. They all smelled him but very fast went to rest in the couch, not acting like they were grieving.
We carried him to our car were he laid with his head in my lap the whole way to the crematorium. It was situated nicely in the countryside in a barn and the owners met us when we arrived, and acted very proffessional the whole time.
It was awful saying my final goodbye leaving him there, but at least I was able to drive back there today and pick up his urn and bring him home.
I struggle with this whole thing, today I have tried to keep myself occupied and distracted because otherwise I think about him, ALL the time. And now thinking of him only makes me break down and cry... and I feel so empty and so tired, so I know I have to stop.
Thankfully I have my three girls who needs to go outside and my daughter who needs my attention, so I have to get myself together and just do normal stuff too.

I know it will take a long time for me to accept the fact that he is not coming back... I was not ready to loose him, but I don't think you ever really are. I knew I was doing the right thing for him, but I would much rather have him here, still next to me...
I know, that eventually his memory will only bring me joy. He was so special and I have so many wonderful memories, photos and videos of him that I will treassure forever.

So he got to come along and just relax, eat candy and enjoy the afternoon outside. Ellen was of course with us too, and Johanna came by to help me take some photos of my oldest and youngest loves together with me. Thank you for the help!

Yesterday me, Ellen (my daughter) and the dogs went to Västerås to participate in a Ridgeback Race at the Greyhound track. Moa and Yaya has done this several times before but it was more than a year since their last time. The two of them absolutely loves it!
Since Ellen came into our family the dogs haven't gotten to do that much fun activites more than normal walks in the woods, so I thought they would enjoy this day!
We got some lovely company from Mira's brother Kadamo A Big Hunk o´Love "Attila" and his owners who came to try this for the first time.
Mira and Attila did not really get the hang of it this time, running after a plastig thing dragged by a machine?! But they ran fast to get to their owners at least!
Thank you Jessica for help with the dogs, Andreas for taking pictures, your friend for taking videos of the dogs (see them below the photos), Lillan for watching Ellen and to Pernilla Johansson for great photos too!

My old boy Dando is not the healthiest of dogs... He has several diagnoses, luckily none that gives him any pain or so far have shorten his life.
Since the beginning of this year he has lost some function in his backlegs/feet. Dando is an old boy now almost 11 years and 4 months old, so in the beginning I just assumed it had to do with age.
It started with him walking a bit wobbly and stumbling with his backfeet. He lost more and more muscles around his thighs, bum and back and it just kept on getting worse. He started to stand with his hooks more in toward eachother, problably easier to keep his balance that way.
He sometimes during every walk knuckle over and steps on the top of his backfeet and sometimes it makes him trip so he has to sit down.
In the beginning we took all our walks in the woods were he got natural training having to lift his legs over fallen trees, roots, stones and so on. It did him good, but during the very warm summer it got to hard for him. When he was warm and tired he walked even worse, and now we only go for walks on surfaces that is more flat and easy for him.
He still enjoys getting out but we can't go far or we have to take several breaks.  At home we have carpets laid out in the room with slippery floor so he can get around easier. We help him up and down in the car when we go somewhere since he doesn't jump that well anymore, even though he still thinks he can do it!

When I decided to test Mira for DM (degenerative myelopathy) before breeding on her I started to read more about the disease and I realised that all the sympthoms described could have been written by me discribing Dando's problems.
So I decided to test Dando for DM aswell.

Dando's result:
DM: N/DM carrier (exon 2)

Interpretation:
The analysed dog is a carrier of the mutation in exon 2 of SOD1-gene that has been suggested to be a major risk factor for the development of Degenerative Myelopathy. The mutation will be passed on to the offspring with a probability of 50%.

This test was not taken to get a diagnose for Dando. This does not say that he is sick in this disease, but it doesn't exclude it either.
To diagnose DM you have to do a lot of exams which I will not put Dando trough. Even if he would get a diagnose there is no treatment for it so it won't make a difference.

Below are videos of Dando just walking from August and September this year. There you can see his changed way of moving his backlegs. The first video is from August were he walks like "normal" for his condition. The second video is from the end of September on one of his "bad" days where he walks worse.
He has both good and bad days normally, sometimes it hurts my heart watching him and next day I think he is doing a little bit better. But at least here you can see and get an idea of his problem.

Now I just keep my fingers crossed that he won't continue to get worse at least not fast. I really want to keep him around for as long as he seems happy which I hope will be for months, and in my dreams, years to come!
As long as I have him I will make sure he lives a good life despite his problems and stays as happy as he can be!

Above Dando in August and below Dando in September.

Last week I send in a bloodsample to Laboklin in Germany for a couple of healthtest for Mira. I am not expecting her to be sick at all I just wanted to test her for a couple of genetic diseases before I start making breeding plans for her.
I tested her for DM (degenerative myelopathy) Hemophilia B (factor IX).

Her results:
DM: genotype N/N clear (homozygous normal)
Hemophilia B: genotype female X (N)/(X) N clear N/N (homozygous normal)

Interpretation DM:
The dog is homozygous normal concerning the intact SOD1-gene. The dog does not carry the mutation in the exon 2 of SOD1 that is suggested to be a major riskfactor for the development of Degenerative Myelopathy. The dog can only pass the normal gene on to all its offsprings.
Read more about this disease here:
http://healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2012/08/13/canine-degenerative-myelopathy-dog-disease.aspx

Interpretation Hemophilia B:
The analyzed  dog is homozygous normal concerning the intact gene. It is a noncarrier of  the defected gene (X-chromosomal inherited factor IX deficiency resulting in haemophilia B). This dog can not pass the mutation on to its offspring.
Read more about this disease here:

On Tuesday night the 19th of August I gave birth to a baby girl at 23.49 pm. Our little princess weighed 2910 grams and were 49 cm long. (We haven't decided her name yet.)
We have now been home from the hospital for almost a week and we are starting to find some routines. The dogs have taken the change very well, they are curious and want to sniff her but still being gentle and careful.
I am unfortunately not allowed to go for any long walks or even stand and sit for very long, so I spend most of the days in bed. Hopefully I will be back on my feet in a few more weeks!
So for now it is Christoffer who is being the more fun dogowner taking the girls to the woods while me, our baby girl and Dando stays at home.
Yesterday and today I got to go for short walks with the whole family around the neighbourhood, not the same as going to the woods but still nice with some fresh air.
Below are a few pictures of our now bigger pack!

I also want to take the opportunity to thank everyone for your congratulations and best wishes!

I am very happy to announce the planned litter between SEVCH Kadamo Fire in the Sky "Kayla" and SEUCH SEVCH Mankoya's Incredible Idde by Gambo for winter/spring 2014/2015.
Kayla will be the second daughter from my girl CIB NORDUCH EECH SEVCH NVCH RLDN RLDF Hamnuddens Fischer "Moa" to have puppies here at Kadamo.
I am so excited to see what this kombination will produce! Thank you Malin and Daniel for trusting Idde's first litter with me and Kayla!

Today Mira and I competed in Rallyobedience Graduateclass. She already has the title but I decided to do one more competition before we start to train for Advancedclass.
Mira can do so well but I haven't been all pleased with our recent competitions so wanted to end this class in a better way.
Today I was pleased with our performance. Her focus is not perfect and she gets a bit off in her healposition here and there, but overall she does good!
Today I made a mistake and counted my steps walking backwards wrong... I have never done this and teach my own students to count out loud, but still, today I made that mistake and we lost 10 points just there...
We recieved 77 points and finished 9th out of 19 dogs, so still pleased with this. Now we take a break from competitions for a while!

Today I went to the International Dogshow in Norrköping to show Mira and Moa for Swedish judge Birgitta Svarstad. Breed entry 43.
I was supposed to have shown Kadamo Fire it Up "Arrax" in juniorclass but something had gone wrong with his entry so just showing my girls today.
Mira was first out in Intermediateclass were she recieved Excellent and finished 3rd. The judge came up to me and gave Mira a lot of wonderful comments, she just thinks she needs a little bit more time the fill out her body and she is right.
For the second time I showed Moa this year and again in Veteranclass. She recieved Excellent and won the class with CQ and was also placed as Best of Breed Veteran!
Time for Best Bitch were my old superstar kicked butts and was placed as Best Bitch! Second show in a row!
Time for Best of Breed where Moa finished Best Opposite Sex. So happy with my old lady who just enjoys showing off!
I took a little roadtrip before the finals and were back there in the afternoon to compete for Best in Show Veteran, unfortunately no placement for us this time.
After a very long day I was happy to drive home! No more shows planned for us right now, I will have to wait to see when I have had my baby if we will go to more shows this year or leave in until next year. But sooner or later we will be back!
