| FINLAND/SAWO SHOW August 2010 |
| On Wednesday
afternoon Johanna and I took the ferry from Stockholm to Helsinki in Finland.
Johanna for some reason must have thought that my experience on the same
trip last summer when I ALMOST missed the ferry sounded fun, because she
was about to cause us the same thing! So just ten minutes before the check in closed we were at least at the harbour and we got on the ferry this time too! But I won't even mention the feelings I had standing waiting for Johanna to pick me up or in the car on the way there... The weather was nice during the trip out from Stockholm and we could enjoy some time sitting in the sun on deck, and of course some Tax Free shopping! Anyway, our goal with this trip was to enter the three days of showing in Kuopio, SAWO Show, with Yaya and Wilson. We were also spending some time with Myy from my A-litter and with some of Yaya's brothers. So when we arrived in Helsinki on Thursday morning we drove to Elina and Myy's place and went for a little walk with them there before starting our drive towards Varkaus were Hanna with Arttu lives. After a mandatory stop at McDonalds we arrives at Hanna's house in the afternoon. There we were also joined by Yaya's other brother Tarujen Uliona "Rampo" and his owner Heidi. The evening was spend with a great BBQ dinner and a photosession of Rampo, see all those pictures HERE. |

Dinnertime! |
| On Friday
it was time for the first day of showing in Kuopio. Today's judge was Stefan
Sinko, Slovenia and breed entry 33. The temperature was "low"
this day and I think it stayed below +30C. First out was Wilson and he won
the Openclass Exc-1. In Best Male he was unfortunately not placed in top
4. Winner was Murumbis Bright Brolle for You who is bred in Sweden but lives
in Finland. Time for bitchclasses and first out was Juniors. I had the privelege to show Myy (Kadamo The Girl Next Door) from the A-litter. She did so well and ended up as Exc-2, so close to winning the class! Yaya was shown in Openclass and I was very happy to see that the judge liked Yaya the most and she won the class. Time for Best Bitch class and Yaya did so well and won it too ending up Best Bitch with CACIB, Finnish CAC making her New Finnish Champion!!! And that at her very first try! So time to compete for Best of Breed that today was won by the male "Pelle". Congratulations Libban and Liisa! Yaya's critique: "2 years and 3 months old. Nice feminine head. Correct bite. Nice neck and topline. Correct tail set. Very good free mover." |

| After the
show me, Johanna, Hanna and Elina went for a short shopping stop in Kuopio.
Neither Johanna or I was really prepared for the tropical temperatures so
we tried to find some swimwear and tops to wear instead of the raincoats
that we brought! We all found something to buy but not really what we were looking for?! When we got back to the house we went down to the lake for a swim in the +25 C warm water! Sooo nice! This became a daily routine! Myy turned out to be a great swimmer, she absolutely loves water which was great to see! In the evening we got some company also from Kaisa and Prada and had yet another great dinner! Some mixed pictures follows here. |

instead! |

| Sunday
and last day of showing in Kuopio. Todays judge was Jo Scheepers from Netherlands
and the breed entry was 35. The temperature today reached +35 C but we had
a little bit of a breeze now and then making the day at least a little bit
bareable! The boys started as always and today it was Yaya's brother Tarujen Ugumu "Äijäs" turn to shine! He won the Openclass and Wilson was third. In Best Male Äijä ended up as third with his last CAC needed for the Finnish Championtitle! Congratulations to Anne and Eeva! In Juniorclass Myy was quite tired and not this judge cup pf tea and she "only" recieved Very Good. Yaya on the other hand kept on shining and yet again won Championclass. Her critique: "2 years 3 months. Very well constructed bitch. Lovely head. Good eyes, ears and teeth. Beautiful expression. Strong neck. Good topline and ridge. Good tail. Very good angulations. Good forechest. Very good ribs. Good straight legs. Compact feet. Nice coat conlour and condition. Free and easy movement. Good temperament." After that is was time for Best Bitch which Yaya won! Third day in a row, doing a real hattrick! So time to meet the Best Male who was the same as yesterday, Ino. We got to do some running and this time the judge gave me and Yaya the red and yellow ribbon! Not a bad ending of a great showweekend to do it with a Best of Breed! Very happy, very warm and very tired we had a few hours to kill before the finals. So of course the dogs were in focus so we walked a few minutes trough the woods to the water and they all got to swim and cool down for a while. Then after some more waiting it was time for us to enter the Best In Group finals judged by Jose Homem de Mello from Portugal. I didn't feel like the judge looked that much at Yaya, he seems to be more into the smaller dogs like the bassets... But into the big ring we ran and I was very happy to be picked out for placement! And when I realized it was only me and one more dog left and the judged walked up to the other one and placed it second I realized that we had acctually won the Group!! Not bad at all! So very happy we went back into our spot in the shade for some more waiting before Best in Show. My first time running in a Best in Show final! The final was judged by and Italian judged that I unfortunately don't know the name of. But it doesn't matter because we were unfortunately not placed. But that was ok! I am still MORE than happy about Yaya's successful weekend in Finland! |
|
| Of course
swimming was the first thing we did after coming back from the show! I could
do that ten times a day when the water is so nice and warm! I really miss
that with Sweden that it has started to get colder already... I don't want
the summer to be over quite yet! Anyway, after our last swim it was time for a little photosession! Yaya had to pose with all her prizes (9 trophys and 9 ribbons!) and I had to get some new pictures of Myy! (See all her photos HERE.) So that was on the scheduele before our last great dinner together for this trip! |

Myy again |
| The great
weekend had come to an end. Monday morning we drove back to Helsinki to
say good bye to Elina and Myy for this time. It was great to see you both
again and Myy really is one of the most energetic and happy dogs I have
ever met! Just like I want them! ;o) Johanna and I enjoyed our lunch in the grass relaxing with the dogs before driving towards the harbour and take them for a last walk before starting our trip back home. The dogs did so well at the boat and the trip home went easy. We were all quite tired so no big celebrations this night! For me it was just back to work so no rest after this trip either! I can sleep in my next life! THANK you to Hanna for letting us stay with you this whole trip! It was as always great to see you and Arttu and the rest of your family! Thank you for all the great dinners and the best company! I hope to see you in Sweden again this year... ;o) THANK you Elina for coming along so I could spend some quality time with our little princess Myy! THANK also to Heidi and Eeva for bringing your boys so I could meet them and of course you! Hope to see you all again soon! And last THANK you Johanna for your travel company and for not killing me this trip either! ;o) I had a great week and I will remember it always! |
