FINLAND 2009

On Thursday afternoon I left work early and took off with Yaya and Moa in the car towards Stadsgårdskajen and the ferry. We made a stop at Gärdet so the dogs could do their number 1 and 2 before we had to get on the ferry...
We left well in time and started driving trough town towards the harbour. And here is were our trouble began! Early afternoon in Stockholm city during the summer obviously means BAD traffic!
We stood completely still! Hardly moving an inch! Of course I started looking at the clock... feeling a little bit stressed... After about half an hour pretty much still on the same spot I was starting to feel sick... So I called the ferry company a couple of times for help... I was pretty sure I wasn't going to make it so we were looking at other ferries to see what other options I had to get to Finland this weekend...
To make a long story short, after a few phonecalls they called me back saying that if I was at the harbour at 16.35 they would let me on the ferry which was leaving at 16.45...
So in between my tears I probably broke every traffic rule we have driving in busslanes, against traffic and so on... Guess what time I turned into the harbour... 16.32! But we made it! I was shaking when I was gathering my things from the car making my way up to my little room.
So first me and the dogs just stayed in our room so that my breathing would go down to normal... When Iwas feeling more relaxed again and just happy to acctually be on the boat we went up on deck to enjoy the sunny afternoon out there.
There we meet some nice people to talk to and a couple of other dogs and spend an hour or so just relaxing there. The dogs got to check out the little "dog area" and well, they were not impressed...
Moa luckily goes on command so later that evening I got her to go into the sandbox but Yaya refused. She waited until the next morning when I finally got her to go on deck...

We had a good night sleep being tired after our stressful afternoon in the car and woke up feeling a lot better when arriving in Finland. There we started driving towards where Myy, one of my A-puppies live. I stopped near a green area just outside Helsinki and took the dogs out for a walk. They were happy to get some grass to do their buisness on! We walked and walked and walked. This little park happen to be very big and I also found a little dog park were I let the girls play for a little while.
For the first time this summer I had time to sit in the grass and read a book and enjoy a couple of hours off! So nice and what a luxary to read a book! I don't think I have read a book since I was reading all the dogbooks for my doginstructor education!

After lunch I started driving the last bit to Myy's (Kadamo The Girl next door) house outside of Helsinki. There I knocked on the door while the dogs were still in the car.
It was so great to see this little princess again! (Sorry for making her wee in the hallway Elina... ;o) Happy puppy!) I do think she remember me!
After our little greeting I went and got Yaya and Moa who also got to meet her. Yaya and Myy really hit it off just like they did in the puppypen when Myy was small. Moa is unfortunately in false pregnancy and wasn't in the mood to play with the kids, she prefered the nice couch!
After some lunch we took off to the woods for a nice walk and of course a photosession of Myy! She is such a pretty girl! We walked around the woods and thank god that they sun was out so we had something to navigate after when trying to find the cars again... ;o)
See all the new pictures of Myy HERE.

Thank you Elina for a great day! You have done a great job with Myy and I am so happy to see the two of you together! I really hope to see both of you again soon!

After a nice afternoon with Elina and Myy I drove to Vantaa and Yaya's breeder Anne. Yaya hasn't been there since she was 8 weeks old and moved to me in Sweden. I am not sure if she remember it but she was still happy to find some new ridgeback friends!
I was greated by Anne and her friend Maija and four ridgebacks. Yaya's halfbrother Tarujen Samir also came and joined us for a nice BBQ dinner and of course I took some pictures of him.

On Saturday morning we had a little sleep in before we headed towards Kouvola for the National All Breed Show. Ridgebacks was the last breed in the ring today so we had a lot of time at the show to look around the shops, eat lunch and just socialize.
People who know me knows how nervous I can be going to shows and how I can't eat a thing before after the show! Luckily I wasn't so bad this day. And that was probably good since me and Moa didn't enter the ring until about 4 pm and I would have starved if I hadn't been able to eat before this!
The judge today was Vincent O'Briend from Ireland. Moa entered Openclass and recieved Excellent and won the class. Time for Best Bitch and Moa won! This gave her the Finnish CAC and made her Finnish Champion! But this was not all! This Finnish CAC also got her the Norweigan Championtitle and with that she also became Nordic Champion! Three new titles in one day! Not bad!
Not she got to meet the winning male (a halfbrother to Wilson from Kennel Ikimba). Moa won and became Best of Breed! The judge was in love with Moa and really praising her! That is always nice!

Her critique:
"3 years old female. Beautiful deep rich colour. Good deep chest, well set ears, dark eyes. black nose. Excellent bite, clean underjaw. Good front, light feet, level topline, good rear angulation. Coat in topclass condition. Moves with very strong drive coming + going. Excellent temperament."

After this we had a little bit more waiting to do for the group finals but luckily it wasn't too bad since we had been the last breed in our ring this day. Judging group 6 was Arvi Ellmen, Finland and Moa got to run into the Big ring as 1st dog. There she was picked out for Top 4! I was very happy about this! She was placed as 2nd Best in Group which I was very pleased with!
This meant that we could take off and head back home to Anne's house where a lot of Tarujen dogs and owners were waiting for us.

The Best Bitch placements: 1st Moa, 2nd Ikimba Abeni (Ada), 3rd Mahiri Retta's Eden and 4th Isabis Abiona Awendela

While the food were cooking on the BBQ I took the time to take pictures of all the dogs who had come that evening! It was so great to meet these dogs! THANK you to all of you for coming! I am so happy that I got to meet all of you in person and meet Yaya's siblings and relatives!
First we have Yaya's only sister Roosa (Tarujen Uzuri), her two brother's Sono (Tarujen Usono) and Arttu (Tarujen Uwayo), her mother Dana (Tarujen Osei), her halfbrother Simba (Tarujen Simba) and Tomba (Ozhrode Tarujen Magic).

After our photosession it was time to enjoy the lovely BBQ dinner at Anne's lovely outdoor fireplace. It was a lovely evening in great company!
Thank you Anne for the lovely food AND for inviting everyone so I got to meet all these wonderful people and dogs!!!
My two girls were soo tired as the evening went on. It had been an eventful weekend for them already with the ferry ride, a lot of new dog friends, a dog show and BBQ. So both of them decided it was time to rest and of course they had to be as close to me as possible, which meant Moa fell a sleep laying in my lap (she does weigh 38 kg!) and Yaya went to sleep right next to us on the bench!
(Thank you Tommi for bringing the girls a blanket!)

Later in the evening... ;o) Only big smiles!

Me and my two very sleepy girls!
On Sunday morning we had to get up early to go to the National All Breed Show in Heinola. On the way there we realized we were running late... Luckily today it didn't stress me out since Moa has gotten what I wanted yesterday so today wasn't that important. But luckily we made it and today Moa was shown in Championclass.
The winning male was Tarujen Penzi (Zorro) Congratultions!
Moa was alone in Championclass and recieved Excellent. Then she also won Best Bitch! 2nd day in a row! Today's CAC went to Mahiri Retta's Eden! She is a daughter to Zorro and she became Finnish Champion this day! Congratulations to you!
Judge today was Lazlo Erdös, Hungary.

Moa's critique:
"Gut proportione, elegante Hündin, kopf könnte eleganter sein. Schön paraleller vor und interstand. Schön symmetrisches ridge, korrekte winkelungen vorne und hinten. Gute präsentation, Gute bewegung."

Moa then went to compete for Best of Breed against Zorro and this was won by Zorro, congratulations to you! This I was just happy about since I had to get to the ferry in the afternoon I hadn't been able to stay for the finals anyway.
Before leaving the showground I took some pictures of Zorro and also of Yaya's brother Utan (Tarujen Utani). Unfortunately I didn't have my big lens (objektiv) for my camera with me to the show so the pictures are not as good as I would have wanted... But the dogs are beautiful and that is the most important!

When we got home it was time for lunch and after that some more photos! Today it was time to take pictures of Tilli (Tarujen Thema), Yaya's grandma Numa (Tarujen Jamila), Yaya's great grandma Dolly (Aslan's Dolly of Ikimba), Veijo (Tarujen Mbabe) and Prada (Babe Candy Helya Ridge).
After that we drove to Yaya's mother Dana's house for a grouppicture of the girls! Four generations together! Dolly, Numa, Dana and Yaya! Not to bad!
From here I then drove to the harbour in Helsinki and walked the dogs along the seaside until it was time to drive on board. This time I was among the first car to get on the ferry, just for the record! ;o)
The dogs was really tired and so was I. Unfortunately I had gotten sick this weekend so after a visit to the Tax free we stayed in our room, celebrating our great weekend with candy and I finished that book I was reading!

This weekend was even better than I could ever have hoped for! Not just because of Moa's great showresults, but to meet all these new people and dogs! It was great to get to know all of you and seeing the similarities in the dogs both in looks and personality! I now know why Yaya is so crazy! She has that from her happy mum! ;o)
What striked me was how lovely, happy and outgoing the dogs were, especially the girls!

I can't wait to see all of you at the Swedish shows and also when I bring Yaya to the shows in Finland next year! Thank you for making this a very unforgettable weekend!
